Discover How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

A lot of us have been trained to believe that comfort foods are terrible and must be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally nourishing and it’s good for you to consume them. There are some foods that really can boost your moods when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are needing an emotional boost, try some of these.

Eggs, you may be amazed to discover, are great at fighting depression. You need to see to it, however, that what you make includes the yolk. The yolk is the most essential part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, the egg yolk particularly, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try eating an egg and jolly up!

Put together some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be raised by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel all the time. The more of it you have, the happier you are going to feel. Nuts, along with bettering your mood, can be a superb protein source.

If you want to fight depression, try eating some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight depression.

Some grains are truly wonderful for driving away bad moods. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are excellent at helping you be happier. These grains fill you up better and that can help improve your moods as well. It’s not hard to feel low when you feel hungry! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. You digest these grains more quickly than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Green tea is really great for your mood. You knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies show that this specific amino acid can basically stimulate brain waves. This helps improve your mental acuity while calming the rest of your body. You probably already knew how easy it is to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood also!

Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try some of these suggestions instead.
