Foods That Make You Happy

In general, people have been trained to believe that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and have to be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this is true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to eat. Several foods honestly do improve your mood when you eat them. If you seem to be a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly wonderful at beating back depression. Just make sure that you don’t toss out the egg yolk. Whenever you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to raise your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that affect your mood. Eat some eggs to cheer up!

Make a trail mixfrom various seeds and nuts. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is because seeds and nuts have plenty of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel all the time. The more serotonin you have, the happier you are going to feel. Not only that but nuts, particularly, are a great protein food source.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you want to battle depression. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all rich in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you battle your depression.

Grains can be good for overcoming a terrible mood. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are fantastic at helping you feel happier. These foods can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. Feeling starved can be terrible! The reason these grains are so great for your mood is that they are easy for your body to digest and process. You digest these foods more quickly than other things which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.

Green tea is truly excellent for your mood. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is high in a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while also calming the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you feel so much healthier. Now you know that green tea helps you to elevate your moods as well!

So you see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are not good for you to feel better! Try several of these instead!
