This fresh pasta is tender yet resilient enough to meet all your pasta needs - from making simple fettuccine to filled shapes like ravioli or tortellini. Stretch out pasta and let dry (either hanging or on a plate) for a few minutes up to an hour. I've made many other fresh pasta recipes, this one is my go-to from now on. It is by far the best one.
Steps to make Fresh Homemade Pasta Is The Best:
- Add the dry ingredients together in a food processor and pulse twice to mix. Set the food processor to make bread.
- Add the eggs and olive oil to Step 1 and mix until evenly blended.
- It's okay if it's still a bit floury. Add everything into a plastic bag.
- It will look a bit like udon noodles but, place a towel over the bag and step on the dough. Once it has spread out a bit, fold the dough into thirds, and step on it again.
- Repeat about 5 to 6 times and it will be mixed well. Now let the dough rest for 1 hour. If it's summer, I think it's better to put it in the fridge.
- Use the pasta machine to roll out the dough. First, divide the dough into thirds.
- Roll out the dough at the thickest setting. By the way, 7 mm is the thickest setting with my pasta machine.
- Take what you just made and fold it into thirds and roll it out to 7 mm. By doing this, the dough will be smoother.
- After Step 8, roll it out to 6 mm and then 5 mm.
- This time I'm making pasta that's 1.5 mm so I rolled it 5 mm thick. (You can also make it as thin as 4 mm if you would like.) If you're going to make 6 mm fettuccine, flatten it to 2-3 mm.
- Next, cut the pasta. This will take a bit of time and I recommend letting the dough dry a bit since it's easier to cut that way. Cover both sides with corn starch or katakuriko.
- Once it's done cutting, dust with corn starch or katakuriko. Let it dry out a bit more.
- Bring some water to a boil with a generous amount of salt, and boil the noodles. Once they float to the top, they're ready. Top with some sauce and dig in. This time I used the pasta for pasta con le melanzane - eggplant and tomato pasta.
- Here I used it in a green pea and homemade bacon pasta, which is so spring-like!
I've made many other fresh pasta recipes, this one is my go-to from now on. It is by far the best one. Each home cook has a favorite recipe, with all-eggs, just egg whites, or water only. To cook fresh pasta, bring a large stockpot of generously-salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add in the fresh pasta, and then immediately begin to stir it gently so that the noodles do not stick together.
Foods That Make Your Mood Better
Many of us have been taught to think that comfort foods are not good and must be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be completely healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. Several foods really do boost your mood when you consume them. When you are feeling a little down and are needing an emotional pick-me-up, test out some of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are wonderful for helping you battle depression. Just see to it that you do not throw out the yolk. Whenever you wish to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolk especially, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can really help you elevate your mood. This is because they help improve the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that affect your mood. Eat an egg and feel a lot better!
Make a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that tells the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more of it you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific protein source.
Cold water fish are great if you want to feel happier. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all rich in omega-3s and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can basically help you overcome depression.
Some grains are truly excellent for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly wonderful for helping raise your happiness levels. They can help you feel full for longer too, which is a mood improver. Feeling hungry can actually make you feel terrible! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were sure it had to be mentioned in this article, right? Green tea has been found to be packed full of an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This helps improve your mental focus while relaxing the rest of your body. You likely already knew it is not hard to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you are aware that green tea can help you be happier as well!
As you can see, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you want to feel better! Go with these suggestions instead!
