Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better
In general, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and must be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to eat. There are several foods that, when you consume them, could better your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these.
Eggs, you might be amazed to discover, are wonderful at combating depression. Just be sure that you do not throw away the egg yolk. Every time you would like to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for raising your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Consume an egg and feel better!
Put together a trail mixfrom a variety of seeds and nuts. Your mood can be elevated by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given time. The higher your serotonin levels, the happier you will feel. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a great source of protein.
Cold water fish are excellent if you wish to feel happier. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3s and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you overcome your depression.
Grains can be wonderful for fighting a terrible mood. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are excellent at helping you feel better. These foods fill you up better and that can help improve your moods also. Feeling famished can truly bring you down! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps promote a rise in your blood glucose which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were simply expecting to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid essentially induces brain waves. This helps improve your mental sharpness while relaxing the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you be better. Now you know green tea can help raise your mood too!
Now you realize that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try a few of these suggestions instead.
