A traditional lemon pie uses cornstarch, eggs, granulated sugar and requires baking.

You blend room temperature cream cheese with eggs, sugar, sour cream and lemons and then bake like you would a normal pie. A traditional lemon pie uses cornstarch, eggs, granulated sugar and requires baking. I attempted to get that same flavor by using a combination of REAL lemon juice and lemon extract, combined with confectioners sugar and cream cheese base… and NO baking required. Line pastry with aluminum foil, and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Lemon Cheesecake Pie is a no bake dessert that is so creamy and bursting with fresh lemon flavor!

Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better

Many of us believe that comfort foods are not good for us and that we should stay away from them. At times, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be altogether nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. A number of foods really do improve your mood when you consume them. If you seem to be a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly great at dealing with depression. You must see to it, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the most important part of the egg in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can actually help you boost your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–function better. Eat some eggs to jolly up!

Make some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all great for elevating your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that tells your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more of this chemical in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a great source of protein.

If you want to battle depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Tuna, trout, mackerel, herring and wild salmon are all full of omega-3s and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you fight your depression.

Some grains are actually great for repelling bad moods. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all wonderful for helping you feel happier. They help you feel full also which can actually help to better your mood. It’s not difficult to feel depressed when you feel famished! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are not hard for your body to digest. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is really excellent for your mood. You were sure it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not hard to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that applies to your mood as well!

As you can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Go with these suggestions instead!
