Steps to make Apple Cardamom Pound Cake- low histamine, gluten free, dairy-free, vegan, corn free:
  1. Preheat oven to 350*. Cut parchment to fit bottom of standard size round cake pan and grease the parchment and sides of pan with coconut oil.
  2. Take care of mise en place, or prep work, before moving on: set coconut oil to melt on stove, make flax egg in separate small bowl, prepare any homemade hemp or alternate milk, harvest vanilla caviar or set empty pod in preheating oven for a few minutes to dry out before blitzing in blender.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients well in a large bowl.
  4. In separate bowl mix chopped apples with cardamom. I use 2 tsp because I love a punch of flavor. Add a tsp of the dry flour mixture and stir. This will prevent the apples from sinking to the bottom.
  5. Mix the wet ingredients well in a medium bowl. Pour wet into dry and mix until batter is quite thick, but will still run off a spoon.
  6. Fold in apples. Spread thick batter into smooth layer in pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, until starting to get golden around the sides and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Pop out of pan after resting for 5 minutes. Let cool completely and then pour desired amount of maple cream over the top. Pictured is the effect of making the recipe a few times in different sized pans, layering cream in between cakes and drizzling it on top.
  8. Happy boy 🍰 🥳

How to Improve Your Mood with Food

A lot of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must stay away from them. Often, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be altogether healthy and it’s good for you to consume them. There are several foods that really can raise your moods when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, test out some of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are great for helping you fight depression. Just see to it that you don’t toss out the yolk. Every time you wish to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, specifically the yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you improve your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–run better. Try consuming a couple of eggs to jolly up!

Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to elevate your mood. This is possible because these foods have a bunch of magnesium which increases serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that dictates to your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein food source.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to beat back depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can really help you fight your depression.

It’s not hard to overcome your bad mood when you are eating grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually wonderful for helping increase your happiness levels. These foods fill you up better and that can help improve your moods also. It’s not hard to feel low when you feel famished! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are easy to digest. You digest them quicker than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Green tea is actually good for your mood. You were sure green tea had to be in this article somewhere, right? Green tea is high in a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while also calming the rest of your body. You already knew green tea could help you feel better. Now you are well aware that it helps you to elevate your moods also!

As you can see, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try a couple of of these suggestions instead.
